In 2022, when Indonesia hosted the G20, various organizations and the Ministry of Investment came together to accelerate financing for sustainable businesses by developing Sustainable Investment Guidelines. This collaboration evolved into the Earth-Centered Economy Coalition (Koalisi Ekonomi Membumi, KEM), a platform aimed at fostering the growth of Indonesia's nature-based innovation ecosystem. KEM connects three key actors: businesses, investors, and jurisdictions. KEM envisions Indonesia's high-value-added supply chains being operated by sustainable businesses that significantly contribute to environmental protection, preservation, and improved welfare in regions committed to sustainability.
Investing in nature is not just a choice, but a necessity for a sustainable future. By harnessing Indonesia's rich biodiversity and natural resources, we can pave the way for innovative, resilient, and inclusive economic growth, a solution to the world’s multiple crises. The only way forward is with all-around collaboration, embracing our diversity of roles and capacities. We are a coalition of enablers, advocates, financiers, communicators, and government representation, together for one goal: to accelerate the growth of sustainable value chain ecosystems that prioritize Indonesia’s local wisdom of living in harmony with nature.
Committed to sustainable development through policy and planning
Operating responsibly and connected to sustainable value chains
Open access to funding, including from financing, investment and transactions.
To specifically address the disconnect between actors in the supply chain related to the restorative economy, KEM members, led by Supernova Konstelasi Accelerator, develop a framework called Value-Chain Collaboration Canvas (VC3) as an anchor to design, convene, and construct project portfolio(s) for Business Model POC (Proof of Concept). The VC3 is designed to be a tool to bridge entities in the value chain and attract financing or investment through a project portfolio lens.
